Complementary Alternative Therapies in Health Care I

Spring semester (starts Jan. 12, 2009), meeting 5:30-8:30 pm on Tuesdays. Guided learning experience to investigate various healing practices such as traditional Chinese medicine, botanicals, manual techniques, mind-body techniques, and other therapies.

Stress Relief and Essential Oils

This program is geared toward the busy individual who has little time for herself or himself and is feeling anxious and pressured. Self care examples are given through guided imagery and essential oils. Stress relieving essential oils will be discussed and explored. The goal is to strengthen body, mind and spirit. This is a great program for the workplace! Fees to be arranged at time of scheduling.

Assembling an Essential Oil First Aid Kit

Learn how to make blends for most common complaints using a few basic essential oils. Blends for sunburn, bug bites,sore muscles, swelling, sprains, fatigue, and itching or irritated skin are all discussed, and you'll take home a blend of your choice. Fees to be arranged at time of scheduling.

Women Connected by the Love of Chocolate

This program explores the health benefits of chocolate. The program includes a tasting of a variety of different chocolates and informational handouts. We can also make bath and body products with this delectable treat. Fees to be arranged at time of scheduling.

Basics of Aromatherapy

This program is intended to give an overview of the art and science of aromatherapy. We discuss definitions, terminology, clinical reviews, and the basics of blending. Handouts are included. Fees to be arranged at time of scheduling.

The Power of Color

This program explores the powerful influence color has on our lives and our health. I will also talk about essential oils and how to integrate them into color therapy. Learn about why we are drawn to certain colors and how our choices affect us. Informational handouts are distributed. Fees to be arranged at time of scheduling.

Essential Oils from the Garden

This program focuses on the plants that essential oils are extracted from. Participants are taught how to make an herbal infusion and an essential oil spray mist. Photos of my garden and various gardens where a profusion of herbs and flowers are grown are discussed, too. Each participant leaves with a 4 oz. spritz and recipe sheet. Fees to be arranged at time of scheduling.

Tea for Health and Wellness

This program explores the essential oils found in many teas. A tasting of unique healthy teas makes this a wonderful winter program! Informational handouts are provided and it is possible to make products for the bath made from tea. Fees to be arranged at time of scheduling.

The Therapeutic Use of Essential Oils

This program is for those looking for clinical information on the use of essential oils. A 1-2 hour informative presentation with essential oil demonstrations and educational handouts. Fees to be arranged at time of scheduling.

Health and Harmony with Essential Oils

This program is for those who are interested in integrating essential oils into their daily health and wellness routine. We discuss how to use essential oils for physical and emotional health. Clinical cases are reviewed and recipes are shared. The goal is to be happier by uplifting and nurturing ourselves and others. In addition to the program you can choose to add a make-it-and-take-it component. Fees to be arranged at time of scheduling.

Making your own Natural Bath, Body and Cleaning Products with Essential Oils

This is a hands-on program that allows the participants the opportunity to make 1 essential oil bath, body and cleaning product to take home. There is an informational discussion, demonstration and participation. Each attendee also receives a recipe sheet to continue making products at home. Fees to be arranged at time of scheduling.
